Marine Hotel Association Announces New Culinary Advisory Board

The Marine Hotel Association (MHA), which will host its annual congress Conference and Trade Show in Naples, Florida, April 2-4, 2023formed a Culinary Advisory Council bringing together culinary leaders and innovators from the maritime hospitality industry to advise MHA in its ongoing mission to elevate the culinary arts within the industry.

The upcoming event is essential for food and beverage and hotel suppliers to the industry, providing an intimate format for suppliers to connect with cruise line members next April.

The new council includes seven culinary leaders in senior positions at member cruise lines and a culinary innovator from the MHA supplier community. It will be led by Philippe Faucher, senior vice president, Apollo Cruise Services and current president of MHA, and Peter Tobler, director of hotel operations for Windstar Cruises.

Participating cruise lines include Royal Caribbean Group, Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania, Regent, Explora Journeys, Marella and CMI Leisure, the latter representing a large part of the growing small ship and expedition market.

The purpose of this Culinary Council will be to:

  • Advise the MHA Board of Directors on and, where possible, participate in activities and events showcasing cruise ship culinary talent and innovation;
  • Nominate culinary talents from across the industry to participate in MHA events;
  • Advise the MHA Board of Directors on educational institutions to partner with for professional culinary development;
  • Form a selection committee to evaluate and recommend candidates for the MHA Culinary Fellowships.

The MHA Culinary Council will focus on the MHA 2023 Annual Conference and Trade Show, depending on growth, following the highly successful MHA 2019 show where the culinary talents of all member cruise lines were showcased.
