Malki appointed new General Manager of Anantara Downtown Dubai Hotel

Anantara, a luxury hospitality brand for modern travelers, has announced that its new Anantara Downtown Dubai Hotel has appointed Husam Malki as General Manager.

Located in Business Bay, the hotel has 252 rooms and suites overlooking the Dubai cityscape and remarkable views of Burj Khalifa. Five distinctive restaurants, a temperature-controlled outdoor swimming pool, a state-of-the-art fitness center and a tranquil Anantara Spa are offered to guests and visitors, according to a statement from Anantara.

A Jordanian national, Husam brings over two decades of experience in the luxury hotel industry. He began his career as a receptionist, impressing management with his dedication to customer service before becoming Executive Assistant Manager of Rotana Hotels in Erbil, Iraq. From there, roles in Dubai and Salalah followed and Husam’s career progressed, he said.

He takes on the role after a move from Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the city’s bustling property, he added.

“I am delighted to begin this new chapter of my career at Anantara. The hotel is in a fantastic location and I look forward to leading the team through the challenges of a bustling city center property. During his long tenure, Husam gained valuable industry knowledge working with leading hotel groups including Accor, Hyatt, Marriott and Starwood, before joining Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas in 2014.

His first role with the luxury brand was Resident Manager at Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara, then he was asked to lead the opening of another Minor Hotels property, Souk Al Wakra Hotel by Tivoli in Doha. , in Qatar, according to the press release.

In 2019, Malki became General Manager of Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara, where he was responsible for creating key business strategies for the hotel, as well as increasing the visibility of the offshore property for international clients. During this time, he also retained the position of general manager at Souk Al Wakra by Tivoli in Doha, Qatar, he added.
